Full description
Despite its size the SparkFun Spectral UV Sensor provides high-accuracy UV radiation measurement across three distinct channels. Utilizing the AS7331 sensor from ams OSRAM© you can independently track UVA (320-400nm) UVB (280-320nm) and UVC (200-280nm) light all from a single breakout board! Each UV channel has an individual photodiode with a built-in interference filter. This ensures maximum sensitivity and precision for your environmental data. The Mini Footprint AdvantageSpace is often the biggest constraint in custom electronics so we took the high-accuracy environmental measurement of the standard AS7331 breakout and engineered it into a highly compact 0.5-inch by 1-inch board! The SparkFun Mini Spectral UV Sensor delivers the exact same triple-channel UV detection as its larger sibling but it is purpose-built for tight enclosures and miniature hardware setups.UV Sensing Operation and IntegrationThe Mini Spectral UV Sensor communicates entirely over an I2C bus and is physically designed to adapt to your project. We routed the essential pins to a pair of Qwiic connectors for instant solderless assembly. We also included standard 0.1-inch spaced through-hole pins for users who prefer a soldered connection. These also provide access to the sensor's specific Interrupt and Sync pins on the AS7331.To further customize its operation you have full control over how the sensor gathers data and interacts with your system:Configurable Operating Modes: Choose between Single Measurement (CMD) Continuous Measurement (CONT) Synchronized Start (SYNS) or Synchronized Start and End (SYND) to dictate exactly how and when data is collected.Smart Power Management: The sensor runs an automatic power-down sequence between active measurements. This keeps current consumption incredibly low across all modes dropping to just 1µA during power-down.Adjustable I2C Addresses: The A0 and A1 solder jumpers on the back of the board let you select from four I2C addresses. This lets you seamlessly stack multiple sensors on the same bus without hardware conflicts!Best of all our dedicated Arduino library makes the software setup incredibly simple. Just search for 'SparkFun AS7331' in the Arduino Library Manager to quickly configure the board and start reading UV data.
